A Swiss national with over 30 years of experience in finance Elias Azrak is the Managing Partner of ETFx IP and co-sponsor to the PureFunds ETFx HealthTech ETF (NASDAQ: “IMED”) and founder of ETFx Indexes, LLC an independent stock index developer for the ETF industry. Mr. Azrak had created and licensed 4 indices to PowerShares, two being used as the underlying index to form the PowerShares Water Resource Portfolio (PHO), and the PowerShares Global Water Portfolio (PIO) both Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) composed of water‐related companies. The funds tracking these indices accumulated assets that represented almost $4 billion under management by 2008, while the two water ETFs accumulated $2.9 billion.
Elias previously worked with the Sustainable Asset Management (“SAM”) in Zurich, Switzerland where he was involved in the structuring of the first derivative product based on the Dow Jones Sustainability Group Index. Additionally, he is the founder of Hydrogen Ventures, LLC in Los Angeles, a consulting company focused on venture capital and private equity advisory services for entrepreneurs and investors who are interested in building world-class companies supporting a cleaner environment and reduced reliance on fossil energy resources. Prior to SAM, from 1992 to 1998 Elias was based in Moscow, Russia where he was an early pioneer in Foreign Direct Investments, securities and commodities trading.
